I donate a portion of the annual proceeds to the Children’s Hospital Colorado Center for Child Abuse and Neglect.

I’m not set up to accept credit cards or to have an automated online store. I’ll reply with a total and the payment instructions; I can accept Venmo, PayPal, and personal checks/money orders. I’ll ship worldwide aside from a handful of countries. I also have the decals/stickers listed on ebay but can offer a discount here since I don’t have to pay sellers and transaction fees.

Don’t stretch or strip bolt and crankshaft threads trying to install a harmonic damper, balancer, or pulley using the bolt and instead use this installation tool.

You will receive one harmonic damper/balancer installation tool that fits Chrysler, DeSoto, Dodge, Plymouth engines with 3/4″-16 crankshaft bolts including poly A-block, LA, B, RB, Street Hemi, slant 6, early Hemi, and early Hemi-block polys including displacements 170, 198, 225, 241, 270, 273, 276, 277, 291, 301, 303, 313, 315, 318, 325, 326, 330, 331, 340, 341, 345, 350, 354, 360, 361, 383, 392, 400, 413, 426, 440. The tool works for internally balanced engines with harmonic dampers, externally balanced engines with harmonic balancers, and hubbed pulleys used on engines without a harmonic damper. It is the buyer’s responsibility to verify the crankshaft uses 3/4″-16 threads and that the tool is long enough to fit the intended purpose. I include steps below demonstrating how the tool works.

The tool includes an approximately 4.75″ to 5″ long grade-5 bare hardened steel threaded installer rod, one grade-5 bare hardened steel installer nut, and one zinc-plated washer. The tool is designed to be used with the zinc washer against the factory thick washer, which is not included. I source the components from a USA supplier in Colorado and craft, package, and ship the tool at my house to help other mechanics and to fund my 1956 Dodge coupe project.

Harmonic Damper/Balancer/Pulley Installation Instructions to Demonstrate How the Tool Works (reader assumes all risk if choosing to physically follow these steps since I provide them only to demonstrate how the tool works):

Lubricate the outside of the cleaned crankshaft snout with motor oil.
Lubricate the timing-cover seal with assembly lubricant or oil.
Lubricate the outside of the cleaned damper/balancer hub with assembly lubricant or oil, position the hub over the crankshaft snout, align the Woodruff key/keyway, and lightly tap the damper/balancer onto the snout using a rubber mallet until the hub sticks in place (about 1/4″).
Apply a coat of general-purpose grease to the threads on the installation rod and onto the side of the nut that faces the zinc washer.
Thread the installation rod clockwise into the crankshaft 1″ minimum, slide the thick washer (not included) over the rod, slide the zinc washer over the rod, and thread on the nut until it rests tightly against the washer.
Use an impact wrench, hand ratchet, or hand wrench to tighten the nut clockwise against the damper/balancer until the hub completely presses onto the crankshaft snout and bottoms out of the timing sprocket.
Turn the nut counterclockwise to remove it, remove the washers, and turn the installation rod counterclockwise to remove it. If the rod sticks, which is unusual, wrap a rag around the threads and use a pair of pliers to break it loose.
Follow the manufacturer’s instructions/specifications for installing the bolt and any pulleys.

Quality Decal Materials

I design and print the decals and stickers in the USA using 6-mil outdoor-grade laminated polypropylene with a strong single-use adhesive back. The decals and stickers are glossy, UV resistant, waterproof, scratch resistant, and have split backing paper for easy installation. Any engine images used are public domain and not copyrighted, and the entire decal or sticker is copyrighted. The item images are samples, and the decals/stickers you receive will not include the “sample” watermark. The image colors represent the finished decal/sticker but may not match the colors on your monitor due to settings differences.

Customization

I am open to customizing decals/stickers on a case-by-case basis, but pricing will depend on the quantity you order since it takes time to design and set up the printing process.

Decal Installation Instructions

Clean the surface with water and dry completely. For items other than automotive paint, after the water dries wipe the surface with rubbing alcohol and let dry. Remove one side of the backing paper, and gently set just the middle part of the decal against the surface while holding the end away from the surface. Use a small squeegee to press the decal onto the surface starting from the center working out. Remove the other side of the backing paper, and repeat the process. Work out any air bubbles with the squeegee. The decals and stickers are single-use only and will become damaged when trying remove them.

Note that the decal may require cutting out a pie-shaped sliver to stop the decal from wrinkling depending on the air cleaner lid. It also makes a unique decal for garage/shop equipment. The decal is die-cut in the shape of a donut with no center. I have a smaller 3″ version below for dashboards, fenders, shop equipment, etc.
